Come along to a free talk I’ll be giving at the the Jersey Arts Centre. I’ll be talking about my artistic practice - the process I use, my thought process and the ideas behind the work including some of my artist influences. I’ll also talk about my current exhibition ‘The Past Unravels’ at the Jersey Museum and the inspirations behind the work, as well as upcoming events I’m involved in such as Open Studios. There’ll also be a channce to ask questions. Hope to see you there!

Solo Exhibition

The Merchant’s House, Jersey Museum & Art Gallery

Step into the magnificent Merchant’s House and be taken on a magical journey through time to the 1860s. Be enchanted as you discover textile installations, sounds and ghostly memories of the family who lived in this once unfashionable part of town – the Ginestets.

Artist Karen Le Roy Harris’ beautiful and moving interpretations of each of the rooms combined with writer Vicky Hinault’s poetic responses reveal the story of the family’s lives and thoughts.

In this innovative new site specific project Karen has researched the family and home and in response has created 9 installations in the rooms of the house which often spill out into the hallways.

Don’t miss this enchanting experience.

Merchants House – ongoing project

Here you can see my ongoing work for Jersey Heritage. The site specific work is in response to the Merchant’s House – a house based at the Jersey Museum restored back to the 1850′s. The work produced interprets each of the rooms and the family that lived there during this period – giving people an insight into their lives.

The work will be installed in the house and exhibited in April 2012.

The Art House Open Studios 2011

Last weekend 6 artists took part in a project to explore the self – with a time constraint of less than 30 hours and all working and creating the work on site in the Berni Gallery, Jersey Arts Centre – the 6 artists didn’t have long to put o a show.

21st March 2011 – 11th April 2011

Karen Le Roy Harris, Gaby Radiguet, Lisa Macdonald, Alison Richards, Matt Falle and Kevin Pallot will be making up this exciting exhibition, in which the artists will create work in a new environment amongst each others company and under the pressure of time.

The artists will arrive in the Berni Gallery on Sunday morning (20th March 2011) and create work for the exhibition within the gallery space by the next day in time for the preview at 5.30pm!

All 6 artists will be exploring the theme ‘Self Portrait’ in their individual style and interpretation.

This Sunday 6 artists will begin their journey with the Self Portrait project. Karen Le Roy Harris, Matt Falle, Alison Richards, Lisa MacDonald, Alison Richards, Gaby Radiguet and Kevin Pallot will have less than 36 hours working in the Berni Gallery space to produce all their work from scratch and put on a entire show by the preview the following evening.

The project starts Sunday morning (20th March) and finishes Monday evening. Watch the artists at play streaming live from the gallery from 10am Sunday Morning until 4pm Monday afternoon.

Dancing figures installation 2011

An installation of two dancing figures and children’s chair with ballet shoes. The installation included classical music playing which helped create movement in the dancing figures. The dress is from the Vanita collection. The drawing/painting in this room was a collaborative piece with artist Clare Ormsby.

The installation aims to provoke a narrative. The dress represents flesh and decay, yet there is a timeless quality to the piece, like a moment stuck in time. The chair with shoes is suggestive enough to provoke the presence of a child. A child watching them dance in awe of her mother. The male is slightly animalistic with it’s fur bustle. The installation has a sense of romance with an underlying sense of unease.

St Brelades College, Jersey
Saturday 12th February (5.30pm – 9pm) – Sunday 13th February (10.30am – 5.30pm)

For just one weekend St Brelades College will be hosting an artistic extravaganza guaranteed to inspire with Paintings, Sculptures, Photography, Glass, Installations, Performance Art and numerous surprises that challenge tradition and showcase the unexpected.

The exhibition will feature works by internationally acclaimed Jersey Artist Robert Greene and over thirty talented local artists including some of my work. I’ve been working on a new installation which I’ll be doing in collaboration with Clare Ormsby.

Live music and refreshments can be enjoyed in the quirky ‘pop up’ Victorian Tearoom where you can meet the Artists. The Project has been put together by two local Artists, Joanna Brown and Louise Evans.

Don’t miss the kick start event preview on Saturday 12th Feb, 5.30pm – 9pm.
