The Mill comes alive in Karen Le Roy Harris’ darkly comic site-specific performance Chute-man. The performance is inspired by the materials and textures of the mill and responds to the mill as a living system or body. The flour chute sculpture worn on her head replicates a piece of machinery from the House mill in London. The flour leaking from her body responds the once omnipresent material whilst also reflecting on the body as a ‘leaky’ form, interconnecting with every surface it touches.
